Gripe Water
Another tip from new parent to new parent. Gripe Water has to be the best thing ever invented for babies! Gripe Water is an all-natural remedy for all kinds of infant and toddler problems. From teething to tummy aches it almost seems like a cure all. A friend told me about Gripe Water and said it was the only thing that calmed his baby’s fussiness. It works on gas, indigestion, teething, sleeplessness and more. There are several brands that carry this miraculous product. Each brand has a slightly different formula, but all seem to work well (most contain flax seed and chamomile along with other ingredients.) It used to be hard to find, but now I see it in most drug stores and grocery stores. I don’t like to give my child drugs if it isn’t absolutely necessary. He had a lot of gas as an infant and problems with spitting up. It reduced the amount of gas a lot (even when gas drops didn’t really work), which in return helped a little with excess spit up. Now he is nine months old and cutting teeth like crazy. Sure Tylenol helps reduce the pain, but again, I want to limit the amount of medication administered to my baby. The Gripe Water seems to do the trick for this as well. This is just another tip I wish I had known a little sooner to ease my baby’s discomforts. Before I bought this product, I went online and did some research. It seems almost all reviewers of Gripe Water came to the same agreement. One parent even said she uses it herself sometimes when her stomach is irritable. Another said she only gave her child half the recommended dose and seen excellent results. That’s how I began dosing. I cut it in half and it seemed to work plenty well. If after ten minutes or so my baby wasn’t any happier, I would give him the other half. I would say half a dose worked 90% of the time though. Gripe water can be administered by itself with a dropper or mixed in with your baby’s bottle. I have to give this product two thumbs up. It’s a life saver!
